Greensburg Y youth sports camps emphasize fitness, fun
Kids ranging from preschoolers to middle school students can have fun and learn skills playing a variety of sports in a series of new camps offered in July by the Greensburg YMCA.
The evening camps, each with four-day sessions, include:
• Tots Variety Sports (ages 2-4) — 5:30 to 6 p.m. July 10-13, 17-20 and 24-27. Soccer, basketball, football and hockey are featured;
• Youth Coed Sports (ages 5-9) — 6 to 7 p.m. July 10-13. Includes introductions to soccer, basketball, football and volleyball;
• Youth Coed Sports (ages 8-12) — 6 to 7 p.m. July 17-20. Covers introductions to soccer, basketball, football and volleyball;
• Middle-School Coed Soccer Primer — 6 to 7 p.m. July 24-27. Players preparing for middle school teams can sharpen and refresh their skills in practice and in fun games.
Matt Ambrose, the Y’s sports and wellness director, said the new sports camps are meant to help “fill a huge void in the wellness and physical well-being of our youth, to engage in organized fitness activities during their formative years.”
The cost of the camp for tots is $30 for Y members, $50 for others. The cost for each of the remaining camps is $45 for members, $65 for others.
