Hartford Heights Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its second wrestling fundraiser at the end of the month, giving wrestlers a chance to even the playing field after March’s matchup.

On Sept. 28, Norwin graduate Tyler Harrison, also known as “Jason Tyler,” and international professional wrestler Sam Adonis will square off in the ring to battle for the winning title. Hartford Heights volunteer firefighter Dan Polinsky said Adonis, Polinsky’s son, is looking to win the title after losing to Harrison earlier this year.

“Sam wants to get the equalizer over him,” Polinsky said.

Harrison made his professional wrestling debut during March’s event. Harrison, a 2015 graduate of Norwin High School and a firefighter with the Larimer Volunteer Fire Department, has been training to become a professional wrestler and has been performing for various promotions.

The Hartford Heights event starts at 7:30 p.m. at 14335 Route 30, North Huntingdon, and features wrestlers Paxton Calloway, Super Opera, Bulk Nasty, Bill Collier, Jimmy Vegas and Beast Man.

Polinsky, who came up with the fundraiser idea, said the thought stemmed from his sons, Adonis and Corey Graves, who are both involved in professional wrestling. Adonis has competed across the world including in Mexico and Japan, and Graves is a color commentator for the media company World Wrestling Entertainment.

“(Firefighters) were talking about some different ways of making some more fundraisers at the fire department,” Polinsky said. “And we were trying to look for something that’s different and that nobody else was doing.”

The first event, which took place March 23 and featured Harrison, Adonis, Jimmy Vegas, Beastman, Sheriff Steele, Bulk Nasty and women’s wrestling, was a success, Polinsky said.

Now, officials at the department are hoping to do between two and three wrestling events per year.

“This is truly geared for kids,” Polinsky said. “The kids have the best time and the parents have the best time watching their kids… . For the amount we charge, the people will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of entertainment they get. It’s a really good time.”

Tickets cost $10 for general admission and $15 for reserved ringside seats. Tickets can be purchased by calling 412-335-1622 or by sending a message to the Hartford Heights VFD Facebook page.

Food, beer and drinks will be available throughout the night.

“It’s for a good cause,” Polinsky said. “It helps us survive at the fire department and pay our bills.”
