The Midway/St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department was recognized Monday night for 75 years in service.
The department, located on Broadway Avenue, was established July 11, 1944. Officials posted on their Facebook page, “Today marks our 75th anniversary. Thank you to the current members and all the past members who have volunteered a little bit of themselves to get us this far. We love helping our community, and look forward to another 75.”
Hempfield supervisors presented Midway/St. Clair fire Chief Rich Kepple with a proclamation during the public meeting.
The proclamation, read by board Chairman George Reese, recognized the volunteer work and talents of members of the department and their dedication to protecting the community.
Chief of Hempfield’s fire service, Anthony Kovacic, said Midway/St. Clair is not the only station celebrating a milestone in recent years, acknowledging Grapeville, which celebrated 100 years last year and Bovard and Hannastown reaching 75 years.
