Jacobs Creek Watershed Association to host 'Young Naturalist Camp'

Bird watching will be among a wide variety of programs available at the “Young Naturalist Camp” June 11-13, 2023, at the Laurelville Retreat Center in Mount Pleasant Township.

The Jacobs Creek Watershed Association will host a “Young Naturalist Camp” in June at Laurelville Retreat Center in Mount Pleasant Township.

The overnight camp will be June 11-13 and is the successor to the association’s “Tot-Time” and “Nature Explorer” day camps for children ages 11 to 13.

Programs during the camp will include a birding hike with scientists from the Powdermill Nature Reserve, a mammal identification program with state game commission officials, fishing lessons and practice the state Fish & Boat Commission, a nocturnal animal stakeout, a guided kayak float and more.

Registration is $220 and includes two nights of lodging, six meals and chaperoning by four trained counselors and other camp staff.
