Man accused of hiding video camera inside women’s room at North Huntingdon plant

A 32-year-old Irwin man was arrested this week for allegedly hiding a motion-activated video camera inside a women’s restroom of the North Huntingdon electrical parts manufacturing plant where he worked.
Nicholas R. Traill was arraigned before District Judge Wayne Gongaware on charges of invasion of privacy, burglary, possession of obscene materials and harassment filed by township police.
According to court papers, Officer Jay Kettren said a woman discovered a digital recording device hidden inside a women’s restroom at the Cleaveland/Price Inc. plant at 14000 Route 993 on Friday. The company is a designer and manufacturer of high-voltage electrical products, including switches and sensors.
“The device was hidden behind several rolls of toilet paper on the toilet in the women’s restroom,” Kettren wrote in court papers.
Kettren said the device was set to activate when it detected motion.
According to court documents, four female employees were filmed without their consent Friday before the camera was discovered.
The suspect is shown on the footage placing the device in the restroom, police said.
Kettren reported Sunday that Traill “voluntarily” went to the police station and admitted “he did place the device with the intent to view it later and watch the women.”
“He stated that the videos were just for him to view,” Kettren wrote.
Traill is no longer employed by the company, according to Cleaveland/Price Vice President Carl Heller Jr.
Heller declined further comment but said the company is doing “everything we can to assist police in their investigation.”
Traill has an unlisted telephone number and could not reached for comment.
He was released on a $10,000 recognizance bond pending a preliminary hearing Jan. 23.
