Westmoreland County Prison
Cody R. Hulse, 27, of Latrobe.

A 27-year-old Latrobe man who was arrested in 2017 for selling heroin in a hospital maternity ward after the birth of his child is back in the county prison for allegedly possessing a stolen handgun and stealing a pickup truck.

Cody R. Hulse was arraigned Monday on charges of receiving stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle and theft from a motor vehicle filed by state police in connection with a series of thefts in Latrobe and Unity on Dec. 9. He was jailed after failing to post $20,000 bail.

Trooper Brandon Boyd alleges that Hulse stole a 2008 pickup truck and items from vehicles in the parking lot of a Latrobe machine shop on Arnold Palmer Drive in the late evening of Dec. 9.

Hulse received a sentence of up to two years for endangering the welfare of children and manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance following his 2017 arrest for selling heroin in the maternity ward of Excela Westmoreland Hospital where others were visiting his newborn daughter.

The county probation department filed a motion Dec. 6 to revoke his parole in that case for violating terms of his sentence, which included drug abuse treatment.
