An unidentified female was reportedly injured Tuesday when she was struck by a train along the CSX railroad tracks along Second Avenue in Sutersville. Multiple fire department, police and CSX Railroad investigators reportedly responded to the scene.

State police were assisting at the scene of a pedestrian-train accident along the CSX railroad tracks along Second Avenue in Sutersville. Multiple fire departments, police and CSX Railroad investigators reportedly responded to the scene.

A woman was transported by ambulance to an area hospital after being struck by a CSX train in Sutersville on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was reported around 3:20 p.m., according to Sutersville VFD Chief Mark Ghion. A Westmoreland County dispatcher said the incident occurred along the 600 block of Second Avenue.

Ghion said the woman was first transported to a landing zone to be flown for treatment, but emergency officials decided to take her by ambulance to Jefferson Hospital.

The extent of her injuries were not immediately available.

The victim’s identify was not released.
