An informational Mental Wellness and Recovery event is slated for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in South Greensburg.

Presented by the Greensburg-based Unity in the Community organization, the free program will take place at the Greensburg Event Center, 1700 Washington St.

Timed to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Month, it will feature resource tables and opportunities for those attending to ask questions of local human services leaders. Food will be available.

Agencies expected to be represented, according to Unity in the Community organizer Ronel Baccus, include: Blackburn Center; Westmoreland Community Action; Westmoreland County’s behavioral health and juvenile probation departments; and Greensburg’s West Place Clubhouse.

According to its website, the clubhouse began as a drop-in center in 1990 and has a mission of “empowering individuals with mental illness to live, learn and work within their community with dignity and freedom from stigma.”

“We must come together to recognize mental health and recovery in the community,” said Baccus. “All members of the community are welcome to be a part of this event.”
