A Monessen man is charged attempted homicide in connection with a shooting last week that left a woman hurt.
Monessen police believe Jamont Anthony Minnie, 34, pulled the trigger at 1:30 a.m. outside a private club in the area of Knox Avenue and 10th Street. The woman, who is in her 20s, sustained a broken arm and will have to have bullet fragments surgically removed, according to court papers.
Police were called to the club at 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots during a fight among a group of people outside Monessen Elks Oaky Lodge on Knox Avenue, according to court papers.
The shooting was captured on police cameras in the intersection. The injured woman told investigators she saw Minnie lift up his shirt during the fight and pull out a handgun from his waistband.
She identified him in surveillance images from inside the bar, according to court papers. She was driven to Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital by someone at the bar and later flown by a medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital.
A warrant has been issued for Minnie’s arrest. He is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and related offenses. He didn’t have an attorney listed in online court records.
