Mt. Pleasant man charged in connection with Jan. 6 riot in Washington, D.C.

A man arrested Thursday in Mt. Pleasant is accused of following a crowd into the U.S. Capitol during the riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

William Irvin Fuller, 31, was taken into custody on federal charges of entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and parading, picketing or demonstrating in a Capitol building. He’s free on $25,000 unsecured bond.

In a criminal complaint filed in Washington, D.C., federal court this week, an FBI agent said they learned a phone belonging to Fuller was inside the Capitol building that day.

In an interview, Fuller told investigators he drove with a friend to Washington, D.C., to attend the “Stop the Steal” rally organized by former President Donald Trump and they walked to the Capitol afterward, but he denied going inside, according to the complaint.

Screenshots of video included in the complaint showed Fuller at the rally. At 3:12 p.m., he is seen on Capitol security footage entering the building through a broken window and pulling up a mask to partially cover his face, authorities said.

In the screenshots, Fuller is seen with Samuel C. Fox, also of Mt. Pleasant, who is serving three years of probation in connection with his involvement. Fuller was inside the building for about one minute before he left, agents said.

A person who knows Fuller identified him in the videos, according to the complaint.

He was arraigned Thursday afternoon in Pittsburgh federal court and is scheduled to appear in Washington, D.C., federal court next week.

A phone number for him could not be located.

Fuller is among hundreds of people nationwide who have been accused of involvement in the riot by the federal government. About two dozen are from Western Pennsylvania.
