Mt. Pleasant police investigate reported shooting
Mt. Pleasant Borough police are investigating a Thursday morning shooting downtown that caused Ramsey Elementary School to be locked down.
A man entered the Sunoco convenience store on West Main Street around 11 a.m. and told employees that someone had shot at him as they were in the area of West Main and Eagle streets, according to Westmoreland County 911.
No injuries were reported.
Mt. Pleasant Area Superintendent Timothy Gabauer said the school was placed on a modified lockdown for about an hour. The school is located on Eagle Street, just two blocks from the gas station.
“Anytime there’s a disturbance in the community, we do that,” Gabauer said. “It ensures no one comes in or goes out, so we can keep everyone safe. But business inside went on mostly as normal.”
