Fire destroyed a small out building and killed the chickens inside it on a Murrysville farm early Sunday morning, a Sardis fire department spokesman said.

The fire, which was reported at 5:46 a.m., occurred at a farm at 4320 Fairview Lane, said Sardis Deputy Fire Chief Joey Paiano. No one was injured in the fire at the building, Paiano said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Paiano said.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 10 minutes of arriving on the scene, Paiano said. They remained on the scene until about 8:15 a.m.

James F. Beacom Sr. and others are listed as the owners of the property, according to the Westmoreland County tax map.

Sardis firefighters were assisted by the other Murrysville departments and units from neighboring fire departments.
