Motorists can expect lane restrictions in Rostraver and Derry townships as PennDOT paving projects get underway Monday on sections of Interstate 70 and Route 217.

Weather permitting, milling and paving on the interstate will cause single-lane restrictions between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. each weekday from Monday through Oct. 21.

The work zone in Rostraver will extend for about one mile in each direction from Exit 46, at the Route 51 interchange. Paving will be completed on both the eastbound and westbound lanes.

Daylight lane restrictions are planned in Derry Township, where crews will mill and pave a portion of Torrance Road and an adjoining section of Route 217.

Single-lane, alternating traffic will be in effect Monday through Oct. 21 on Route 217, from Torrance Road north to the Indiana County line, and on Torrance Road, from Route 217 to the intersection of Quarry and Grant roads.

The Derry Township work is part of a larger surface improvement project that includes multiple routes throughout Westmoreland County.

The project also includes a section of Route 66 in Washington Township and Oklahoma Borough. Daylight paving and single-lane, alternating traffic are expected to continue through mid-October between Route 356 and the Armstrong County line.
