PennDOT has scheduled four career fairs as it looks to hire winter maintenance workers in as many counties and to fill permanent commercial driver’s license operator and maintenance positions in Westmoreland and Washington counties.

Each fair is slated for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the respective county’s PennDOT maintenance office.

Staff will be available to answer questions and assist with the application process. PennDOT District 12 officials noted there is the potential for qualifying applicants to get on-the-spot interviews and conditional job offers for select positions.

The first fair will be held on Thursday in Washington County, at 170 Route 519, south of Eighty-Four.

Additional career fairs are set for:

Sept. 20 in Fayette County, at 825 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., North Union Township;

Sept. 22 in Westmoreland County, at 144 Donohoe Road, Hempfield Township;

Oct. 11 in Greene County, at 226 Elm Drive, Suite 102, Waynesburg.

PennDOT has winter maintenance openings for: transportation equipment/CDL operator; diesel and construction equipment mechanic; auto mechanic; tradesman helper; welder: stock clerk 1; and radio dispatcher.

Hourly wages begin at $18.99 for transportation equipment operators, $20.57 for auto mechanics and $23.27 for diesel mechanics.

Those attending any of the career fairs are asked to bring two forms of identification.

PennDOT’s winter maintenance program runs from September through April.

Those who aren’t able to attend one of the fairs can learn about and apply for PennDOT job openings by visiting employment.pa.gov.
