PennWest California readies full slate of homecoming events

PennWest California students will celebrate homecoming with a full slate of events from Oct. 17-19 .

PennWest California will welcome back alumni as the school celebrates homecoming with a full slate of events this weekend .

A parade and tailgate will take place Saturday prior to the Vulcans’ game against Slippery Rock at Adamson Stadium.

Before the weekend begins, the California club hockey teams will host games at the CFSBank Event Center in Belle Vernon on Thursday . The PennWest California teams will play Robert Morris University at 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. In between, two-time Stanley Cup champion Phil Bourque and current Penguins forward Michael Bunting will make special appearances and an open skate will take place at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday , there is a Class of 1974 anniversary reunion luncheon scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the North Wing Convocation Center. It is invite-only and tickets are $25. For more, call 724-938-4286.

Homecoming continues with the annual African American Alumni Society and Black Student Union Panel Discussion, taking place at 7 p.m. Friday in Steele Hall.

Homecoming Saturday will kick off with activities at 10 a.m. on the college’s Duda Lawn. Families can enjoy a bounce house, petting zoo and food vendors.

Alumni are invited to stop at the Kara Alumni House for the annual “Party on the Patio” brunch.

The parade will be at noon Saturday featuring fraternity and sorority floats and the presentation of the 2024 homecoming court leading up the 3 p.m. game.
