Three Westmoreland County law enforcement agencies combined resources Thursday to arrest a suspect in the holdup of a BP station along Route 30 in North Huntingdon.
Township police Chief Robert Rizzo said Sean B. Doran, 28, of Jeannette, is awaiting arraignment on charges of robbery, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the 6 p.m. robbery of the gas station convenience store at 7910 Rt. 30 near the Irwin interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
“The suspect was a white male with red hair, wearing a gray sweatshirt and a black-and-gold Pittsburgh Penguins skull cap. (The suspect) told the clerk he had a gun, but no gun was shown during the robbery,” Rizzo said.
Police said the man ran from the store after receiving cash from the register and drove away in a white Monte Carlo.
According to Rizzo, North Huntingdon police were contacted by Southwest Greensburg Police after the robbery and told the robber’s description matched Doran, whom that department was investigating for unauthorized use of a white Monte Carlo earlier Thursday.
At 10:30 p.m. or about 5½ hours after the robbery, state and North Huntingdon police pulled over the white Monte Carlo as it exited the turnpike at the Irwin interchange and Doran was arrested.
“Inside the vehicle was the clothing that was worn during the robbery and also suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia,” Rizzo said.
Rizzo said complaints were filed before District Judge Wayne Gongaware.
