A 7-year-old child was hospitalized Friday morning after a two-vehicle crash in Ligonier Township, according to police.

The child was riding at 8 a.m. in a black SUV driving east on Darlington Road when the vehicle stopped at the intersection of Route 711. Ligonier Valley Assistant Police Chief Michael Matrunics said multiple witnesses reported the SUV pulled out into the path of a white SUV that was driving north on Route 711.

The black SUV crashed into a stop sign. Matrunics said another child in that vehicle was not hurt. Both adult drivers were uninjured.

Route 711 was briefly closed, causing long traffic backups. The road is a main artery to Fort Ligonier Days from the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange at Donegal.

The three-day festival opened Friday morning in Ligonier.
