The social media app SnapChat played a role in charges being brought against a 21-year-old Murrysville man, according to Murrysville police.

Murrysville police are seeking an Export man accused of posting video of a nude 16-year-old girl to Snapchat.

Clement Chitambo Jr., 21, was charged Jan. 14 by police with two counts of sexual abuse of children and one count of criminal use of a communication device. All three are felonies. Authorities said Chitambo allegedly accessed Snapchat video of the teen in 2018, saved it and posted it to his own Snapchat feed.

Police said the juvenile and her sister initially approached police in April 2018. A friend, described by police as being in a relationship with Chitambo, had jokingly taken a video of the girl while in the bathtub, according to a criminal complaint.

Chitambo, who had access to the friend’s Snapchat password, is accused of saving the video to his phone and re-posting it in retaliation for the juvenile spreading a rumor about him, according to court documents.

The friend who shot the initial video told police Chitambo accessed it after word of the rumor got back to him.

Murrysville police located two files containing child pornography on both Chitambo and the friend’s Snapchat accounts through a search warrant. They recovered the video along with a still shot from the video with overlaid text reading, “Monday,” “ILL EXPOSE some of you hoez (sic),” and “Please keep my name out of ur (sic) mouth.”

When Chitambo was arrested on an unrelated warrant in August 2018, Murrysville police applied for a search warrant for all data on his phone. Data from that phone was later found to include three images of the teen girl nude in the shower.

Murrysville police are seeking information on Chitambo’s whereabouts. Anyone with information can call 724-327-2100.
