State police working in support of an Indiana University of Pennsylvania Homecoming detail stopped a Pittsburgh man with a “significant” amount of drugs on Friday.

Police believe the 25-year-old man, who was not named, was on his way to Indiana County with a suitcase full of drugs, although it is unclear whether the IUP Homecoming was his destination.

The traffic stop was made at 9 a.m. Friday in New Stanton by the Troop A Community Enforcement Team, which was working in support of the homecoming detail, said Trooper Cliff Greenfield.

Police seized approximately 4 pounds of marijuana and 35 containers of THC edibles — all with a street value of $14,000. The investigation continues, and charges have yet to be filed, Greenfield said.
