Editor’s note: A previous version of this story had an incorrect age for the boy.

A Unity woman was arrested over the weekend after state police said a boy at her home was found with 14 guns that she bought for him, according to court papers.

Rhonda M. Campomizzi, 54, is charged with 14 felony counts of possession of a firearm by a minor and a single count of child endangerment. She is free on $1,000 unsecured bail.

Police did not say in court papers how old the boy was, just that he was younger than 18.

Troopers were called around 9 p.m. Friday to Bovard Luxor Road in Unity after a report of several hundred rounds being fired in the area, according to court papers. Police said the boy admitted to firing the guns into a hillside on Twin Lakes Park property.

Campomizzi told police she purchased the guns for the boy and allows him to keep them in his bedroom, according to court papers. Troopers seized six handguns and eight long guns. Campomizzi told police the boy wasn’t permitted to be shooting them that night and that he woke her when police arrived.

Campomizzi is free on $1,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 26. She could not be reached for comment.

It was unclear from court papers whether the teenager is facing charges.

It is illegal in Pennsylvania for someone under 18 to have a firearm unless they are under the supervision of an adult and the minor is engaged in a lawful activity. Those lawful activities can include target shooting, hunting or trapping and participating in an organized competition under state law.

A Pennsylvanian must be 18 to buy a long gun and 21 to buy a handgun, according to CeaseFirePA.
