A Sutersville man allegedly used a crossbow arrow to puncture tires on two vehicles parked near his apartment on Tuesday and then threatened to stab one person who confronted him about it, police said.
Rickie Linn Case, 58, was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, harassment, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and simple assault filed by state police after the incident outside of his apartment in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue about 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Case and the two people who had tires punctured during the 10:45 a.m. incident are tenants above Junebugs bar, according to a neighbor who declined further comment.
Case was arraigned before Greensburg District Judge Chris Flanigan and ordered held in the county prison after failing to post $75,000 bond.
Trooper Ryan Ilich said multiple patrol vehicles were dispatched to the area and the section of 3rd Avenue near Junebugs was closed after police received a report of a man threatening people with a crossbow after puncturing tires on two vehicles parked near the bar-restaurant.
Ilich said one person was threatened after going to Case’s apartment to confront him.
“Case ran at him with the crossbow (arrow) in his hand, threatening to stab him in the neck. (The individual) states that he held Case’s door shut with his hands in order to keep Case away,” Ilich wrote in court papers.
Ilich said four tires were punctured on a car and a pickup truck parked in the lot behind the bar and damages were estimated at more than $300.
Ilich said Case surrendered without further incident and admitted puncturing the tires and threatening to stab one of his neighbors.
Troopers recovered the crossbow in his apartment and an arrow in the grass nearby.
According to court records, Case has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1989 when he lived in McKeesport and White Oak in Allegheny County. The majority of the cases were for driving under the influence, harassment and terroristic threats, but in 2016 he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault filed by North Versailles Police and was sentenced to 16 months in jail and three years of probation.
Case’s preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 28 before Rostraver District Judge Charles Christner.
