The Rite Aid pharmacy on William Penn Highway in Murrysville is set to close its doors for good on Oct. 8.

The shuttering is part of the roughly 400 to 500 stores the company is proposing to close as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

“The Philadelphia-based company is currently facing more than $3.3 billion in debt and over 1,000 federal lawsuits alleging it oversupplied opioids,” WSJ reported.

Hours will continue to be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday until the store’s last day of operation.

All scripts at the location will be transferred to the Salem (Delmont) and Holiday Park locations, the store said, unless customers request a different location.

“We review every neighborhood to ensure our customers will have access to health services, be it at Rite Aid or a nearby pharmacy, and we work to seamlessly transfer their prescriptions so there is no disruption of services,” Rite Aid said in a statement. “We also strive to transfer associates to other Rite Aid locations where possible.”

Other pharmacy locations in the area include Giant Eagle Pharmacy, Walgreens or Mainline Pharmacy inside of Ferri’s IGA Supermarket.
