Roseytown Road section in Hempfield to close for reconstruction; paving set for other state routes
A section of Roseytown Road in Hempfield will close for reconstruction beginning Monday.
The $1.5 million project will include replacement of 500 feet of concrete in the Norfolk Southern railroad underpass, where potholes have been an ongoing problem.
The road will be closed to traffic between Route 119 and North Tremont Avenue. A posted detour will direct motorists along Bovard-Luxor, George’s Station and Donohoe roads.
Crews from Gulisek Construction will perform the work, including an asphalt overlay of additional pavement, replacement of a culvert, installation of new storm drains and other drainage improvements.
The project is targeted for completion by September, depending on weather conditions.
The section of Roseytown Road was last resurfaced in 2018.
Work slated on routes 119, 30, 66
Motorists can expect weekday single-lane restrictions beginning Monday and continuing through late June, as needed, as PennDOT repaves several other state routes in Westmoreland County.
Daytime restrictions, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., will be in effect for:
• Ramps from West Otterman Street to Route 30 and from Route 30 to West Pittsburgh Street in Hempfield
• Route 66, between the routes 66/356 split and the Oklahoma-Apollo Bridge in Oklahoma
• Section of Logans Ferry Road intersecting with Freeport Street in Lower Burrell
• Routes 66/356 split in Washington Township
Nighttime restrictions, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., will take place for both directions of traffic on:
• Route 119, between Euclid Avenue in Greensburg and Willow Crossing Road in Hempfield
• Route 30, between Walton Tea Room Road in Hempfield and Route 136 in Greensburg
• Freeport Street, between Stevenson Boulevard in New Kensington and Crystal Drive in Lower Burrell
Crews from Tresco Paving Corp. will perform the work, as well as tree trimming and placement of pavement markings. It’s part of a $10 million project to resurface various state routes in the county.
Interstate 70 repairs planned
Single-lane restrictions will be in effect weeknights beginning Monday for traffic headed in either direction on the section of Interstate 70 between Route 51 in Rostraver and Route 31 in South Huntingdon.
Crews from contractor Eurovia will conduct milling, paving, grinding and sealing and will install raised pavement markers as they repair centerline joints on the interstate. It’s part of a $6.8 million project that includes similar work on sections of Interstate 79 in Washington and Greene counties.
The traffic restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., as needed, through late May.
