Route 30 near the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Irwin interchange was restricted on Thursday after a truck struck the bottom of the turnpike overpass shortly after 8:30 a.m.

A truck that hit a Pennsylvania Turnpike overpass bridge Thursday morning on Route 30 caused no structural damage to the span near the Irwin interchange, according to turnpike spokesperson Renee Vid Colburn.

“We have a contractor that is working on the bridge and making a minor repair to it,” Colburn said. “The bridge is fine, and traffic can travel on it.”

Traffic in the westbound lanes of Route 30 near the interchange was temporarily restricted after the truck hit the underside of the turnpike bridge in North Huntingdon.

Emergency responders were called to assist North Huntingdon police at the scene around 8:40 a.m. Thursday.

No injuries were reported, according to a Westmoreland County 911 supervisor.

It wasn’t immediately known if the truck driver would be cited by police.
