No injuries were reported when the pilot of a small plane crash landed at Arnold Regional Airport at 1 p.m. Monday. The plane’s landing gear failed to deploy, damaging the single-wing aircraft, according to airport officials.

The main runway at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Unity was closed for over an hour Monday after a small airplane crash landed after its landing gear failed to deploy.

The accident occurred at 1 p.m. Airport emergency vehicles and area fire vehicles were still on the scene at 2:20 p.m. removing the single-engine aircraft off the runway.

Airport officials reported the plane’s pilot radioed the airport that his landing gear indicator showed that one of its landing gears had not deployed. The pilot landed and safely exited, but the damaged craft had to be removed from the runway.

“No one was injured. The pilot was the only person on the plane,” said Maurice “Moe” Haas, the airport’s operations and public safety director.

No further information on the plane or the pilot was available.
