Search on for missing New Derry man; car found unlocked, police say
State police are searching for a missing New Derry man whose parked car was found Wednesday in Derry Township, three days after he was last seen.
State troopers said they don’t suspect foul play in their search for 63-year-old John J. Dofollo. He was reported missing by family members when he did not return home.
Dofollo is known to fish and hike in Derry Township.
Following a ping from his cell phone, officials located the phone inside his unlocked car, which was parked in a gravel lot along Westinghouse Road in the township.
The Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department bloodhound team helped with a search of the surrounding area Wednesday, but Dofollo wasn’t found.
The search resumed on Thursday, with the help of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. State police conducted an aerial search along the nearby Conemaugh River.
Dofollo is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs 185 pounds. He has brown eyes and short, gray hair.
He was wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt and khaki cargo pants when he was last seen at about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Anyone with information on Dofollo’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
