Security film to be installed on windows at Jeannette high school building
Security film will be added to windows and glass in several areas at Jeannette Junior/Senior High School after state police did a vulnerability and risk assessment at the building, according to school district Superintendent Matt Jones.
The film will be added to glass in the front vestibule and areas near the gym and auditorium by Safe Haven Defense. School directors on Monday approved the $38,000 bid. A Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency grant will cover $30,000 of the cost and the rest will be paid through the general fund.
The film will bolster the strength of the glass and potentially delay the entry of a person intent on violence, Jones said.
The project was one that could be done quickly to improve security after the October state police assessment.
“They provided a very in-depth and comprehensive report,” he said.
The bid from Safe Haven Defense indicates that forced entry and bullet resistant security laminate will be added to 60 panes of glass.
