A 30-year-old South Huntingdon man was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening to shoot his mother with a 9 mm handgun and then firing the gun outside as state troopers arrived at the scene.
Andrew C. Cyktor was arraigned before District Judge Chris Flanigan in night court on multiple charges of disorderly conduct, harassment, simple assault and making terroristic threats filed by state police in Belle Vernon.
Flanigan ordered Cyktor held in the county jail on $40,000 bond.
Trooper Steven Moyemont said multiple patrol cars were dispatched about 7:15 p.m. to Tracy Cyktor’s residence along Pittsburgh Pike after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance and “some of the victims were unable to call because of (Andrew Cyktor’s) erratic behavior.”
When troopers arrived, Moyemont reported that he was met in the driveway by two women who were screaming and waving their arms. Police then heard a single gunshot.
“I exited my car hearing the females yell, ‘Just drop the gun, Andrew,’” Moyemont reported.
Troopers said Cyktor, wearing only blue jeans, dropped the gun at their request and “he dropped to the ground,” where he was handcuffed.
One of the women was his mother, Moyemont said. She told police that her son and she had gotten into an argument “over cigarettes” and that he had retrieved his handgun.
“Tracy related that Andrew was extremely irate and began screaming at her. She related Andrew pointed the gun at her, threatening her harm… she was afraid Andrew was going to shoot her in the face,” Moyemont said.
Moyemont said police retrieved the black handgun “that smelled like freshly fired” gunpowder. He said one round was chambered, with 11 more rounds in the magazine.
“The (handgun) hammer was fully cocked,” Moyemont reported.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 2 before East Huntingdon District Judge Charles Moore.
According to online dockets, Cyktor has an unrelated preliminary hearing scheduled Oct. 12 before Youngwood District Judge Anthony Bompiani on a possession of drug paraphernalia complaint filed by South Greensburg police after a May 23 incident. He also has a criminal trespass complaint pending before Rostraver District Judge Charles Christner for an incident in Sewickley Township on May 19.
