A Latrobe woman was arrested Friday on child endangerment charges after state police said a 2-year-old boy ingested marijuana.

Shelby L. Bosworth, 21, is free on $15,000 unsecured bail.

Troopers said in a news release that Bosworth reported taking the child to Independence Health Latrobe Hospital on Nov. 1 when he wouldn’t wake up after falling and crying at a location in Derry Township. A urine screen showed the child had ingested marijuana.

He was transferred to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, and doctors determined the child wasn’t hurt from a fall but was diagnosed with marijuana toxicity. The mother gave investigators several stories about how the child could have ingested the drug, according to troopers.

Bosworth did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 13 before District Judge Kelly Tua Hammers.
