Two Greensburg men accused of robbing a Sheetz store on Jan. 30 waived to court the charges against them on Thursday.

Greensburg police charged Jerome Garrett, 19, and Tywone McClain Jr., 21, in connection with the robbery. Police said four men entered the Harvey Avenue store around 6:15 p.m. when McClain allegedly demanded money from the cashier.

Det. John Swank alleges McClain told the clerk he had a gun and would shoot if he was not given the cash. However, police said he did not show a firearm.

Garrett was apprehended within 24 hours of the robbery. McClain, who has also lived in the New Kensington area, was arrested Feb. 6 in Duquesne.

Neither Garrett’s attorney, John Hauser, nor McClain’s attorney, Brian Aston, commented after their brief appearance before District Judge Chris Flanigan.

Assistant District Attorney Leo Ciaramitaro also declined to say whether either suspect had reached a plea agreement.

Both men are charged with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. The two other men who were in the store were not charged.

Flanigan denied bond for McClain saying he is a danger to the community and has a history of robbery offenses, according to online court records. Garrett was remanded to the county prison on $100,000 bond.

At the time of the Greensburg robbery, McClain was on parole for a 2018 robbery in Arnold, according to online court records.
