Jeannette City Council is in need of a new member.
Chad Krawtz submitted his resignation, which was effective immediately, on Sunday, said city solicitor Tim Witt. Letters of interest are being accepted until Nov. 13 by city manager Ethan Keedy.
Council likely will vote on Krawtz’s resignation during its Nov. 14 meeting.
The remaining members of council will have 30 days from the submission of the resignation letter to appoint a new member, Witt said.
“The city will obviously address it through the proper procedures to make sure that the appropriate public officers are there to serve the city,” he said.
Krawtz, 47, a Republican, declined to comment Tuesday.
He was appointed to council in June 2022 to fill a vacant seat created by the death of Ron Smith. There were eight eligible applicants for the vacant seat.
That term ended in December and he ran unopposed in 2023, winning a new four-year term.
Letters of interest for the vacant seat can be emailed to ekeedy@cityofjnt.com, mailed to city hall at 110 S. Second St. or dropped off there between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
