Central Westmoreland Career & Technology Center’s entry in the annual PennDOT “Paint the Plow” contest to raise awareness about winter driving safety.

High school students across the state have decorated winter snow plows, and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials want the public to vote on their local favorites.

The annual Paint the Plow contest is part of PennDOT’s annual campaign drawing awareness to winter driving safety. Students were asked to create a design for the business end of a commercial snow plow showcasing this year’s theme: “Use Your Reason When It’s Freezin’.”

Fourteen schools from PennDOT’s District 12 — which includes Westmoreland, Fayette, Greene and Washington counties — will compete for votes, which can be cast at PennDOT.pa.gov/painttheplow.

Competing schools include Central Westmoreland Career & Technical Center, Connellsville, Greensburg Central Catholic, Monessen, Mt. Pleasant and Yough along with Albert Gallatin, Bethlehem-Center, California Area, Fayette County Career & Technical Institute, Carmichaels Area High School, McGuffey High School, Open Door Christian School and Uniontown.

In addition to Central Westmoreland’s entry above, see other local schools’ designs below.
