• A night of comedy to benefit Sardis Volunteer Fire Department will be Jan. 31 at the fire company social hall, 5205 Rocky Hill Lane, Murrysville. Doors open at 5 p.m. Performers will include headliner Larry XL and Trey McDonough. Admission: $25, includes beer. BYOB. Must be 21. • The Disciples Hands Ministry of Greensburg Church of Brethren will have a soup sale from 9 a.m. to noon or until sold out Jan. 24 at the church, 554 Stanton St., Southwest Greensburg Cost: $8 per quart. Hempfield High School band subs also will be available. Details: 412-403-8182.
Special event
A free Preschool Expo will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 26 in the Fred Rogers room at the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, 102 Equity Drive, Hempfield. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with local providers of child care for children 5 and younger. Reservations are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
