State Rep. Eric Davanzo and two other victors from last month’s special election were sworn in to office Monday in Harrisburg.

Davanzo, R-South Huntingdon, will complete the remaining nine months in the seat previously held by state Rep. Justin Walsh, who resigned in January after he was elected to be a Westmoreland County judge.

Davanzo, 43, defeated Democrat Robert Prah Jr. and Libertarian Ken Bach in last month’s special election for the vacancy. The district covers Adamsburg, Arona, East Huntingdon, parts of Hempfield, Jeannette, Madison, Monessen, Mt. Pleasant, North Belle Vernon, Penn Borough, Rostraver, Sewickley Township, Smithton, South Huntingdon, Sutersville and West Newton.

Davanzo, during a brief ceremony at the state Capitol, was sworn in along with Rep. Tim Bonner of Mercer County and Rep. K.C. Tomlinson of Bucks County, who also won special elections in March.

Republicans hold a 110-93 majority over Democrats in the state House.
