A 31-year-old Latrobe woman is accused of twice nearly running over a Ligonier Valley policeman who was trying to arrest her for violating a protection from abuse order last weekend.

Amanda Jury was arraigned Sunday on two counts each of aggravated assault on a police officer and fleeing and eluding after the separate incidents that occurred on the 1000 block of Harvey Road in Ligonier Township and in the parking lot of the Ramada Inn in Ligonier.

The officer, Matthew Sherer, was not reported injured after either incident.

According to court documents filed by Sherer, he was called to investigate a complaint that Jury was sitting in a parked car in the driveway of a neighbor’s residence Saturday in violation of a protection from abuse order after prior complaints of harassment and stalking.

When Sherer arrived at the scene, he spoke with the relative and then questioned Jury, who claimed she was doing nothing wrong “and stated that I was not going to arrest her.”

When Sherer placed his arm in the car window in an attempt to take Jury into custody, Sherer said Jury put her car in drive and fled on Route 271 toward the borough.

About one hour later, at 8:48 a.m. Saturday, he saw Jury pulling into a parking space at the hotel and he blocked her in with his cruiser. Again, when Sherer reached through the window in an attempt to place her in custody, Jury told Sherer she was not going to be arrested, according to court documents.

Sherer reported Jury put her vehicle into reverse and slammed into the side of the patrol car in an unsuccessful attempt to get away.

He was eventually able to remove Jury from her car, but said in court documents that she continued to resist arrest as she was placed in a patrol car.

According to court dockets, Jury is scheduled to appear Thursday before Greensburg District Judge Chris Flanigan for a hearing on charges of criminal trespass and resisting arrest filed by city police stemming from an Oct. 8 incident.

Jury is being held in the county prison after she failed to post $10,000 bond.
