A woman who led police on a brief chase at speeds exceeding 130 mph along Route 119 in East Huntingdon this month has a hearing on multiple criminal and traffic citations tentatively scheduled next month.
Roxanna L. Varriano, 44, of Jeannette was charged this week by state police with illegally operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, illegal possession of marijuana, failing to use a seat belt, reckless driving and exceeding the posted 65 mph speed limit along the stretch by 65 mph.
Trooper Nathan Ellwood said in a court filing this week he was patrolling a section of Route 119 in East Huntingdon as it approaches Toll Route 66 about 12:30 p.m. Dec. 7 when Varriano sped past his patrol unit at a high rate of speed north bound.
Ellwood reported in court documents that the black, 2020 Chevrolet Camaro Varriano was driving exceeded 130 miles per hour before she pulled off the highway.
Varriano was served via mailed summons. Her hearing is scheduled Jan. 20 before District Judge Chuck Moore.
According to court dockets, Varriano pleaded guilty in 2015 to a driving under the influence charge filed by Penn Township Police after an accident and received a sentence of 180 days on home electronic monitoring and was granted work release. Police reported that her blood-alcohol level in the case more than .16 percent or more than twice the legal limit for driving under the influence in Pennsylvania.
On-line dockets also disclosed that she pleaded guilty in 2014 to DUI charge filed by state police after a traffic stop in Hempfield.
