Work on bridges to trigger lane restrictions on routes 22, 711 in Westmoreland
Motorists can expect to encounter single-lane restrictions beginning next week on Route 22 in Murrysville and on Route 711 in Fairfield.
Nighttime restrictions, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., are scheduled Monday through the morning of July 1 on Route 22, between the intersections of Kistler Road/Kohosek Court and Cozy Inn Cutoff/Haymaker Farm Road.
Traffic will be controlled by flaggers while road crews install bridge seals and finish paving, PennDOT officials said.
The work is part of a $2.08 million project by MEKIS Construction on 22 bridges on 16 routes in Westmoreland County. The project is expected to continue into October.
Longer-term lane restrictions will be in place beginning Tuesday on Route 711, between Thatcher and Midget Camp roads.
Traffic will be controlled by temporary trailer-mounted mobile signals as work is underway on three separate bridge projects, according to PennDOT.
In the $2.5 million effort, C.H. & D. Enterprises will replace a bridge over a tributary to Tubmill Creek with a pre-cast concrete box culvert and will install a 4-inch reinforced concrete distribution slab and make barrier repairs to preserve a bridge over Rasler Run. The contractor also will update a bridge over Hendricks Creek, by replacing the superstructure with pre-stressed concrete spread box beams, replacing the deck and rehabilitating an abutment.
The Route 711 lane restrictions are expected to continue through the end of October, weather permitting. The overall project is slated for completion in July 2024.
