Work on bridges will restrict traffic in Jeannette, North Huntingdon, Hempfield
Staggered daytime single-lane traffic restrictions will be in place beginning Monday on roads in Jeannette, North Huntingdon and Hempfield as PennDOT continues ongoing preservation of nearly two dozen bridges throughout Westmoreland County.
Traffic will be affected between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.
Restrictions are scheduled Monday on three roads in Jeannette: South Fourth Street, between Division Street and Chambers Avenue; Chambers, between Cuyler and Brown avenues; and Brown, between Bell Street and Harrison Avenue.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, restrictions are slated in North Huntingdon, on Washington Avenue between Main Street and Morris Avenue.
On Thursday, traffic will be restricted in Hempfield, on Wendell Road between Turnpike Street and Arona Road.
Mekis Construction will replace compression seals and place an epoxy-based surface treatment on several bridges. The work is part of a $2 million project to preserve 22 bridges on 16 routes.
Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.
