Northland Public Library will be closed Sunday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 25.

It will also be closed Monday, Jan. 1.

Adults

Northland Radio Hour: Sherlock Holmes & The Night Before Christmas

Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m.

Northland staff performs the Sherlock Holmes Mystery, “The Night Before Christmas”. You can view it in person to watch the recording process or relax at home and listen while curled up on the couch.

Registration is required. If you prefer to enjoy the performance at home, sign up at bit.ly/NPLHolmes to receive the Zoom link the week of the program.

Tinsel & Trivia Holiday Bash

Friday, Dec. 15 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

‘Tis the season to come together for some merry competition! We’ll have snacks, crafts, decorating contests, and of course, trivia! Deck yourself in your finest holiday outfit and join us for some festive after-hours fun at the library. Registration is required. Snacks and a hot chocolate bar will be provided. Join us in the nonfiction area of the library on the upper-level.

Children, ‘Tweens and Teens

Coin collecting for kids and teens

Tuesday, Dec. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Curious about coins? Members of the North Hills Coin Club will provide students in kindergarten through 12th grade with the knowledge and tools needed to get started in this fascinating hobby. Beginners will receive penny folders. Returning students will receive nickel folders. Registration is required.

Block Party!

Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 10:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.

Families with children of all ages are invited to the library for an hour of building fun! Wooden blocks and Legos will be available for children to create whatever they can imagine. No registration is required.

Next Chapter Book Club

Second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 10 a.m.

Dec. 13, 27; Jan. 9, 23

Next Chapter Book Club provides meaningful opportunities for life-long learning, social connections, and community inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We’ll provide the books, and readers of any level are welcome to join us to read aloud and discuss the stories! Email akenheadl3@northlandlibrary.org for more information.

Movie Matinee

Third Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m.

Peek into the sights and culture of other lands through a travel or foreign film feature. No registration is required.

Switzerland and Liechtenstein

Dec. 20

See the beauty of snow and ice as we visit Murren and Zermatt to see the Schilthorn and Matterhorn mountains and canyons. Hike through the Alps, see cascading waterfalls, tour inside a glacier, travel with llamas and alpacas. See an iconic James Bond scene on top of the Schilthorn.

Mystery Lovers Book Group

Third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

If you enjoy reading and discussing good mysteries, then join us! No registration is required.

Dec. 21: Movie night

Dec. 7, 14, 21, 28 at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m.

Dance a little, play a little music, listen to a story! Fun with scarves, bean bags, egg shakers, and other simple instruments for children ages 3 and older. No registration is required.

Teen Game Room

Second Thursday of each month at 3 p.m.

Dec. 14; Jan. 11; Feb. 8

An hour of gaming for those ages 12 to 18. No registration is required.

Preschool Storytime!

Wednesdays at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m.

Jan. 3, 10, 17, 21

Children ages 3 to 5 and can come on down to the Library for a 30-minute storytime featuring stories, songs, rhymes and rhythms. These are identical sessions and families should only attend wither 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. No registration is required.
