Woodland Hills students will return to classrooms Monday after a series of fights led to a two-day closure of the building.

In a letter to parents Sunday night, Principal Shelly Manns said a student assembly to address the incidents will take place Monday.

“Over the next couple of weeks, we will be meeting with students and implementing a couple of programs,” Manns wrote. “All staff will be working together to enforce and reinforce all expectations.”

Among the expectations listed:

  • Students will have four minutes between classes.
  • Consequences will be issued to those students who are tardy or cut classes
  • Students must follow the dress code as aligned in the handbook
  • Hats, outerwear, and ski masks are not permitted.
  • Hoodies can not be pulled over one’s head
  • Cell phones and/or headphones should never be visible in the hallway

The high schools shifted to remote learning Thursday and Friday after after district officials cited “credible threats” and multiple fights at the school last week.

On Friday, district Superintendent James Harris said in a letter addressed to students, families and staff that 30 students had been identified in connection with the fights. The district is using surveillance video and cell phone videos to assist in the identification.

Those identified students would face possible suspension, expulsion and criminal citations, he said.

“We are doing everything to identify everyone who instigated, punched, kicked or in any way assaulted a student or staff member,” Harris wrote in the letter.
