Pa. Liquor Control Board adding seasonal employees at stores

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) says it is looking for more than the usual number of people to fill seasonal jobs at its stores during the holiday season.
“This year because of covid-19 and the added sanitation requirement, and just the extra work that’s involved, we want to make sure that all of our stores across Pennsylvania have enough employees to carry through the season,” PLCB spokesman Shawn Kelly said.
The jobs at Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores are all part-time and will last from early November until early January. The positions will pay $13 an hour. There are no minimum hour requirements.
“We have seasonal jobs open in every county in the state,” said PLCB chairman Tim Holden. “We’re looking for friendly, motivated people who love a fast-paced environment, who want to help our customers, and who will help keep our stores well-stocked and clean through this busy time of year.”
At this point, the PLCB is not sure exactly how many seasonal workers it will be hiring.
“It’s difficult to say because it depends on what employees we get per store,” said Kelly. “If you’re a seasonal employee and you come in and say ‘I could work six hours a day, five days a week’ then that might mean we don’t need as many other employees. So, it’s difficult to put a number on it.”
Kelly said there are openings in virtually every store the PLCB has. The seasonal liquor store openings offer an opportunity for employees to move to regular part-time work after the season ends and seasonal employees can be called back during the summer and other holiday seasons.
