Sheetz For the Kidz, a charity affiliated with the Altoona-based Sheetz convenience store chain, raised a record amount in its Christmas 2019 fundraiser for children in need, the company announced on Thursday.

The $704,658 raised from in-store customer donations provided toys, clothes and other necessities for more than 9,600 children in six states, the company said. Sheetz employees volunteered their time to shop, wrap gifts and host holiday parties for the children and their families.

“We are deeply grateful for our customers’ tremendous generosity,” said Travis Sheetz, Sheetz president and chief operating officer. “Thanks to their donations, Sheetz For the Kidz was able to make this past holiday season a brighter one for thousands of children and families in need.”

Customers can donate to Sheetz For the Kidz by:

  • Purchasing a Sheetz For the Kidz water bottle, with 25 cents from each purchase going to the charity.
  • Shopping on AmazonSmile and selecting “Sheetz For the Kidz” as the charity of choice. (Amazon donates .5% of purchases to the charity.)
  • Donating online at www.sheetz.com/ftk.
  • Buying Sheetz Art Project swag at www.sheetzshop.com.

Sheetz For the Kidz was founded in 1992 and is operated by Sheetz employees.
