You’ll need more cash to play Pa. Lottery’s Cash 5

It will take double the cash to play Cash 5, the Pennsylvania Lottery’s longest-running jackpot game.
The base ticket price will jump from $1 to $2, and Cash 5 will offer a revised game with a chance to win more prizes, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced.
The changes will begin with the March 23 drawing.
In preparation for the change, advance draws for the Cash 5 game are temporarily limited. Typically, tickets can be purchased up to a week in advance. On Friday, tickets could be purchased only four days in advance. Each day until March 23, the number of advance days will drop by one.
More details regarding the upcoming changes to the game will be announced on March 24 and information will be available on the Pennsylvania Lottery website.
The Pennsylvania Lottery describes Cash 5 as their only game “that offers you a chance to win a big jackpot every day and take all the cash at once,” as there are no annuities with Cash 5.
To play, people can play up to five panels per play slip. On each panel, players choose five numbers from one to 34 — or let the quick pick option randomly select numbers for them — and then watch the PA Lottery results to see if the ticket has matching numbers.
This isn’t the first time the Cash 5 game has been revised.
When it was introduced in April 1992, Cash 5 was a weekly game. Players selected five numbers from 1 to 39 for the chance to win an all-cash jackpot, starting at $100,000. It became a nightly drawing in 1998.
A more recent update to the game occurred in 2008, when the Pennsylvania Lottery increased the matrix from five of 39 numbers to five of 43 numbers.
