A paid event featuring U.S. Sens. Dave McCormick and John Fetterman that had been scheduled for Saturday in Pittsburgh has been postponed.

An Eventbrite listing for the event was updated Friday afternoon to announce the postponement, but it did not give a reason.

Messages left for McCormick, R-Pittsburgh, and Fetterman, D-Braddock, were not immediately returned.

The senators and their wives had been scheduled to appear together for an event where the McCormicks and the Fettermans would discuss mentorship and the McCormicks would discuss their new book, “Who Believed in You?” Tickets had been listed at $32.

The event had been scheduled to be held at City Winery in the Strip District, but that venue changed earlier in the week. A new venue was never announced.

After learning of the paid event, Mondays with(OUT) McCormick, Indivisible Pittsburgh and other local activist groups began organizing a demonstration in response. Leaders of the groups expressed frustration that the senators would hold the paid book-related event but not a town hall where constituents could directly share their concerns with the senators and ask them questions.

One of the protest organizers, Tracy Baton of Indivisible Pittsburgh, said a demonstration will still be held at noon Saturday at Schenley Plaza in Oakland.
