A Delta Air Lines pilot is facing charges of attempting to fly an aircraft under the influence of alcohol.
Gabriel Schroeder, 37, was charged Friday over a July 30 incident when Schroeder was due to fly from Minneapolis to San Diego, KARE 11 reported.
According to the complaint, officials were conducting a random screening at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport when they became suspicious of Schroeder, KARE reported.
He approached the screening area but stopped abruptly before being informed about the screening, according to the complaint. KARE reported that when Schroeder was asked to place his bag on the screening table, he told the TSA officer he was not ready to be screened and left the area.
Officials reportedly discovered that Schroeder then made a 27-second stop at a restroom where an unopened bottle of vodka was found in the trash. KARE reports that Schroeder later said the bottle was his.
Schroeder told detectives that he’d had one beer and three vodka drinks the night before, the Associated Press reports from the complaint.
One of the charges is for a blood-alcohol concentration of .04 or more.
