A toilet shattered into hundreds of pieces when lightning struck a septic tank outside a Florida home.
Marylou Ward told WINK-TV that Sunday’s blast was the loudest sound she has ever heard.
“It used to be our toilet,” Ward told the news station. “We have nothing now.”
“We come in here and the toilet was laying on the floor,” Ward told WINK. “There’s all pieces everywhere. Pieces everywhere.”
A plumber said the lightning hit the Ward’s septic tank and ignited methane gas in the pipes, reports WINK.
The blast destroyed the toilet, the pipes, the septic tank and a bedroom window, according to WINK. A day later, the Port Charlotte residents are still finding their broken yard ornaments strewn about the property and in the street.
“I’m just glad none of us were on the toilet,” Ward told WINK. “That’s the main thing.”
