The IHOP orange juice refill policy was apparently a surprise to a group of guests who reportedly threw a fit when they got their bill.

Diners at an IHOP restaurant in Asheville, North Carolina, last week were unhappy to see charges for each refill of orange juice on their check, reports WLOS-13. The group asked to see a manager but were unsatisfied with the result.

Asheville Police told WLOS-13 that the situation escalated and the customers caused property damage inside the restaurant and assaulted the manager and another employee. Both were taken to the hospital, treated and released.

“We never want to see anyone injured, especially over the bill at a restaurant,” APD Spokesperson Christina Hallingse told WLOS-13.

“The restaurant did provide us some surveillance footage for the detective to review in hopes of being to identify those involved,” Hallingse told WLOS-13.

“IHOP franchisees work hard to create a safe, welcoming environment for their team members and our guests,” IHOP Spokesperson Stephanie Peterson told WLOS-13. “The type of unprovoked, violent behavior displayed by this guest has no place in any business and goes against our core values as a brand.”
