A St. Louis, Missouri, comic book enthusiast was heartbroken when his entire collection was stolen. Luckily for him, the suspects selected his comic store to try unloading the rare books.
Martin Casas got the bad news last week. His personal collection of 3,000 comic books had been swiped when thieves cut the padlock from Casas’ unit at a storge facility, reports the Riverfront Times.
More than a year ago, Casas had opened a new business, Apotheosis Comics, that combines a comic book shop with a bar, the Times reports. He asked his staff to alert him if anyone contacted the shop to sell a comic collection.

Within a few days of the theft, a woman called looking to sell a batch of comics. The box she dropped off turned out to be one of the ten boxes Casas was missing, according to the Times.
“This is a great collection,” he told her on the phone after reviewing the contents. “You’ve got at least a couple hundred dollars in comics there.”
Police were waiting to arrest the suspect when she returned to the store.
