Letter-writer Erik Rueter (“Pittsburgh Marathon’s inclusion illusion,” May 4, TribLIVE) took P3R, the nonprofit that organizes the Pittsburgh Marathon, to task for accepting a sponsorship from local Chick-fil-A franchises in support of the Kids of Steel youth marathon. He explained that through a relationship called “transitive reasoning,” the donation could be determined to have come not from the franchises, but from the Chick-fil-A Foundation, an organization that ThinkProgress (a progressive internet news site) had determined to be one that made donations to groups with a history of LGBTQ discrimination.

I hope Rueter does not call for a boycott of the local Chick-fil-A franchises that helped to sponsor this marquee event. The last one that was called against these franchise owners was problematic as I recall. First, I could not find a place to park; second, I could not enter the restaurant because of the line that snaked through the building and out the entrance; and last, the wait for my food order took me well past normal suppertime.

Let it go, Erik, just let it go.
