Scott Primary School first-grader Jack Johnson is not old enough to have a first-hand memory of what happened on Sept. 11, 2001. But like other students his age, he’s learning all about it — and experiencing what some of the fire fighters did on that fateful day.

On Sept. 11, 2023, the first-grader arrived at Scott Primary School aboard a fire truck, thanks to winning a raffle from Cherry City Volunteer Fire Department.

The magical moment not only will be a fond memory for Jack, but helps foster an important understanding and appreciation of the work first responders do — a lesson particularly fitting for the anniversary of 9/11.

Johnson posed for pictures with his family as well as members of the Cherry Volunteer Fire Department.
